November is one of the driest months of the year in Central Florida.
It is when we can get outside and not even really think about needing the rain gear. But, this November was an exception.
It finished as one of the top 10 wettest on record for Daytona Beach, Sanford and Leesburg.
While it was not in the top 10 for Orlando and Melbourne, both cities still finished well above average.
Daytona Beach picked up the most rain, with more than seven inches in the rain gauge.
This November went down as the ninth rainiest on record there.
If you’re wondering, the wettest November in Daytona was back in 1994, when nearly 13 inches of rain fell.
Meanwhile, it was the eighth rainiest on record in Sanford and tenth for Leesburg.
The added rain during the month and the regular passage of cold fronts also made for a cooler than average November.
Melbourne was nearly four degrees cooler than average for the month. However, it did not finish as one of the coolest on record.
Most of Central Florida finished around a degree cooler than average for the month.
None of the five main observation sites recorded a temperature above 85 degrees.
Morning low temperatures managed to dip into the middle to upper 40s for most, with the exception being in places like Ocala in Marion County.
That is where temperatures managed to fall into the 30s toward the end of the month.
November, of course, also signifies the end of hurricane season. The season officially ended on November 30.
