Keep the muddy mess out and your pooch’s paws clean

Spring might as well be called “the muddy season.”

What You Need To Know

  • Spring mud can make a mess of your dog and your home
  • Dog owners can rely on more than just a towel for daily and frequent clean-ups
  • Paw cleaning cups, waterproof boots and paw wipes are a few options

As the weather warms up and the snow melts, the springtime months leave most of us with sloppy yards.

Throw a dog in the mix, and you might find the inside of your house muddy as well.

All right, maybe not that muddy, but you get the point.

Dog owners are going through towels left and right, trying to keep their dogs and homes mud-free.

However, there are a few unique solutions for keeping your pooch’s paws pristine this time of year.

The paw cleaning cup

These silicone cups with interior silicone bristles will give your dog’s paws a more thorough cleaning compared to just wiping them with a towel.

All you need to do is put warm water into the cup, dip each paw in and move the cup around. You’ll get a deep clean around all those nooks and crannies.

Of course, this won’t help remove the mud that splashes up onto your dog’s belly. And after using the cleaning cup, you’ll still need to dry their paws off with a towel.

Nevertheless, this is a great option for mud removal, especially for the more meticulous dog owners.

Booties

Why not try an option that keeps your dog clean and turns them into a fashionista?

There are a number of waterproof boots on the market for dogs.

Even though some of their legs and belly will still be exposed, the benefit here is that you won’t have to clean their paws at all because they won’t ever touch the mud.

Some dogs may not be too keen on the idea of wearing booties, but if you can get them on, your dog will certainly turn some heads.

Dog paw wipes

This is a step up from your everyday towel.

These disposable, moist towelettes are likely to give those muddy dog paws a more thorough clean. Some even come with added benefits such as deodorizing, antibacterial or moisturizing properties.

Unlike the paw cleaning cup and booties, this option unfortunately comes with a recurring expense for your home.

Regardless of your approach, these choices give you and your pooch the opportunity to get outside and leave the mud behind.
