Watching another disturbance in the tropical Atlantic

We’re watching another area near the coast of Africa that could develop further.

What You Need To Know

  • We’re watching an area near Africa
  • Right now, it has a medium chance of developing further
  • The Leeward Islands could see impacts this weekend

The disturbance has a medium chance of further development over the next five days.

As it continues to move westward, we could see some strengthening, and it could develop into a tropical depression by early next week.

Before that, some impacts could be possible for the Leeward Islands by late this Saturday.

Impacts to the U.S. are uncertain for now, as we are still early in the forecast with this disturbance.

We’re also watching Tropical Storm Fred that’s passing over Hispaniola. Fred is forecast to bring impacts to Florida this weekend. Click here for the latest details.

It’s important to always stay prepared as we head through the next few months. Although it’s likely we won’t see a record-breaking season like last year, we still expect an above-average one.

Remember, it only takes one storm to make it a devastating season.
