Tropical Storm Kate formed in the open Atlantic Monday morning.
After spending a couple of days meandering northeast of the Leeward Islands, Tropical Depression Ten gathered enough strength to become Tropical Storm Kate.
The storm is in the open Atlantic, slowly heading north. It will remain on that path this week.
Kate is forecast to remain far from land and will have no U.S. impacts.
Ida continues to drop heavy rain across parts of the southern U.S., though. We’re also watching two other disturbances in the Atlantic this week.
