Stay cool as summer heat takes over

This week is a scorcher as high temperatures stay above the average for this time of the year.

What You Need To Know

  • Many cities will deal with hot temperatures over the next few days
  • Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are in effect
  • Stay hydrated and take breaks indoors where it’s much cooler

Many areas have heat alerts in place for the dangerously hot conditions.

In California, Excessive Heat Warnings are in effect for Tuesday, with highs reaching up to 107 degrees.

For the center of the country and the Northeast, heat alerts are in place through Wednesday. Humidity mixing with the toasty outside temperatures are making it feel much hotter than what the thermometer reads.

The central U.S. could see heat indices up to 110, while in the Northeast, heat indices could reach up to 100 degrees.

We will see high temperatures increase over the next few days, with most of the country reaching the 80s and up.

The temperatures in the central U.S. and Northeast are about 10 degrees above the average for this time of the year.

Stay hydrated, and take breaks indoors as much as possible if you have to be outside.

It’s not just here in the U.S.

Across the globe, western Europe is also dealing with the extreme heat.

Many places have reached record highs multiple days in the row.

The heat is also leading to other problems. Drought conditions continue to worsen from the hot temperatures and lack of rain. Forest fires have intensified for parts of Europe.

Many people are without AC, leading to heat illnesses and hundreds of deaths.
