While the first half of Masters week featured severe weather and heavy rainfall, Thursday to Sunday will feature improving weather for the tournament itself.
Hello friends! It’s been a tough start to Masters week weather-wise at Augusta. If nothing else, the azaleas will be watered and vibrant after downpours and severe thunderstorms hit the course the past couple of days.
Severe weather suspended the practice round Tuesday, then ended the popular Par 3 contest early Wednesday afternoon.
The latter was a bummer for me. Gary Player was throwing some absolute darts and I thought he was heading for an ace, but I digress. We’re here to talk about the weather for the tournament.
A cold front will track through Augusta Thursday morning. We do not expect severe weather with this, only light showers. This should not delay play, even for the golfers with morning tee times. The light rain will keep greens soft into the afternoon, which should promote scoring.
Beyond showers Thursday morning, the weather is looking fantastic for the remainder of the tournament. The Sunday evening sunset will almost be as beautiful as Tiger Woods winning his sixth green jacket!
