July finishes mixed with rainfall and temperatures

July started with Elsa tracking just off the Gulf Coast of Florida. This storm brought pockets of heavy rain along with a tornado risk to most of east-central Florida.

Temperatures started the month a bit cooler than average. However, in the final week, temperatures climbed back above normal for most of central Florida.

This difference between the start of the month and the end of the month was temperatures finished pretty close to normal.

Temperatures for the month, when you combine the monthly high and low, finished in the lower 80s for all of Central Florida.

Most areas were less than a degree below normal.

In typical rainy season fashion, rainfall finished mix for the area with the haves and the have-nots.

Leesburg picked up nearly 8.5 inches of rain and finished the month with a more than 2.5-inch surplus.

Meanwhile, Melbourne missed out and ended July with a deficit of more than 1.25 inches below normal.

Orlando was also the only other city out of the five main weather observation sites to finish below average with rain.

The City Beautiful picked up just shy of 6.5 inches and fell short by a little more than an inch.
