July 2022 ranks as one of the warmest in Central Florida

If last month felt hotter than normal, then you are right.

Most of Central Florida just went through one of the top 10 warmest July’s on record.

Last month ranked as the third warmest July on record in Orlando, with an average monthly temperature of 84.8 degrees. This was a little more than two degrees above the average.

Monthly high temperatures averaged 94.5 degrees in the City Beautiful. The normal daytime high for this city is around 92 degrees.

There was only one day in Orlando where the temperature failed to it hit 90 degrees or hotter. This happened on Jul. 25, when rain and clouds moved in over the area quickly. It was the first time afternoon since Jun. 4 that temperatures stayed below 90 degrees.

Rainfall was sporadic, which is normal during the summer months in Central Florida.

However, there were more spots that finished much drier than average compared to those who had a rainfall surplus.

Leesburg was the big winner for rain in July. The city picked up more than a foot of rain, making it the wettest July on record for them.

Meanwhile, Melbourne could barely buy a drop of rain. The city only picked up 1.97 inches for the month. This July went down as the seventh driest on record there.
