Gulf disturbance becomes Tropical Storm Mindy

A tropical disturbance that’s been meandering over the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico for days is now Tropical Storm Mindy.

The tropical storm will soon be moving onto land. It’s on track to make landfall on the Florida Panhandle Wednesday night. It’ll continue on to the east, emerging into the Atlantic on Thursday.

 

Further development after getting back over the water is unlikely because upper-level winds won’t become favorable.

Mindy will bring locally heavy rain to parts of the Southeast, mainly northern Florida and southern Georgia.

Spaghetti models show the storm moving farther into the Atlantic, away from land, as a cold front picks it up.
