Danielle has formed in the North Atlantic, making it the fourth named storm of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.
This is the first named storm since Tropical Storm Colin spun up off the coast of the Carolinas nearly two months ago.
Danielle is in the open waters between Bermuda and the Azores. It’s forecast to become a hurricane Friday night, and remain one through at least early next week.
During that time, it’ll meander around as it drifts far from any land.
Computer forecast guidance also shows little movement the next few days, until steering winds finally change enough to pick up the system and take it northeast.
Spaghetti models or plots show a series of individual computer forecast models together on one map. They are useful to give insight into whether multiple models are in agreement on the path of the storm but they do not address the storm’s forecast intensity, winds, flooding and storm surge potential or other data. Tap here for more details on how to best use these models.
There are two other areas being monitored across the Atlantic for potential development. You can see those here.
