A cold front that swept across the country is bringing a big taste of fall.
Most places woke up to freezing temperatures this morning, reaching the 20s and 30s across the eastern half of the county.
We even saw new records for lows in some cities.
Areas in the Midwest also dealt with some snow. Cities in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan recorded over a foot of snow!
A little more snow and wintry mix will be possible for areas in the Midwest and Northeast Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, but it’s the cold temperatures that are the bigger story.
Highs today will range from 10 to 20 degrees below average, putting many places in the 40s and 50s for highs.
Lows tonight will be chilly, once again. Freeze Warnings and Frost Advisories are in place. Bundle up if you have to be out late tonight or early on Wednesday. For those with a risk of frost or freeze, cover up or bring in any plants that are sensitive to the cold.
It’s likely that we’ll reach record lows on Wednesday morning for many cities.
Highs on Wednesday will be a little better, but we’ll still be about 10-15 degrees below average.
These cool afternoons are also near or at record cool levels for high temperatures.
On Thursday, we creep back toward normal. In fact, we’ll see a big warmup behind this cool air, with many places getting 10-15 degrees above average through the weekend.
